what is in our lunches?

Our mission is to keep the children engaged in the program because if their simply not eating it, there is no point.  Our menu is extremely varied as we have had nearly a year to figure out what the children want to eat and ask for.  We work closely with the school to gain feedback and record the wastage that is happening. Our head Chef and supervisors come to the school and talk directly with the students and teachers around what they would like in the lunches and what they never want to see again.

With meeting the ministry guidelines of 75% green and 25% amber we have really put the thinking cap on when it comes to our menu. We have 1 hot meal a week over the warmer seasons and 2 hot over the cooler months.  The hot meals are served in Thermals or heat containers and collected back at the end of each day.

From salads, soups, broths, sushi to pasta, wraps, buns and rolls we have literally done it all. Preparing over 400,000 meals in 2020-2021.

We fuel children with Kai they are really familiar with, you won't see Kale, Olives or cherry tomatoes as sides to our lunches because our feedback shows kids are just not eating it and being parents ourselves weve got the toughiest critics. Instead we make kai that is familiar and made with love like savoury mince, nachos, stacked sandwiches, rolls or wraps.
